They had three main purposes in the Old Testament:
A] - He taught God's people the gravity of sin. Sin separates the sinner from a holy God could be reconciled with God and find forgiveness only through the shedding of blood [Exodus 12:3-14] [Leviticus 16] [Leviticus 17:11] [Hebrews 9:22].
B] - Provide a way for Israel to come to God through faith, obedience and love [Hebrews 4:16] [Hebrews 7:25] [Hebrews 10:1].
C] - identified or foreshadowed [Hebrews 8:5] [Hebrews 10:1] the perfect sacrifice of Christ for the sins of mankind [John 1:29] [1 Peter 1:18-19]. See [Exodus 12:3-14] [Leviticus 16] [Galatians 3:19].
Jeremiah prophesied that in the future God would make a New Covenant a better covenant with his people [Jeremiah 31:31-34] [Hebrews 8:8-12]. It's better than the old covenant [Romans 7] because completely forgive the sins of those who repent [Hebrews 8:12], makes them children of God [Romans 8:15-16], gives them new heart and nature to spontaneous way to love and obey God [Hebrews 8:10] [Exequiel 11:19-20], leads to a relationship personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father [Hebrews 8:11], and provides greater experience in the Holy Spirit [Joel 2:28] [Acts 1:5-8] [Acts 2:16-17,33,38 -39] [Romans 8:14-15-26].
Jesus instituted the New Covenant or New Testament, and ministry in heaven is far superior to the earthly priests of the Old Testament. The New Covenant is the agreement, promise, last will and testament, and the statement of the purpose of granting grace and divine blessing to those who respond to God in obedient faith. Specifically, it is a covenant promise to those who by faith accept Christ as the Son of God, receive their promises and delivered to him and obligations of the New Covenant.
Jesus Christ's position as a mediator of the new covenant [Hebrews 8:6] [Hebrews 9:15] [Hebrews 12:24] is based on his atoning death [Matthew 26:28] [Mark 14:24] [Hebrews 9:14-15] [Hebrews 10:29]. The promises and obligations to the New Covenant are incorporated in the New Testament.
Its purpose is:
Save
of guilt and condemnation to all who believe in Christ and commit their lives to the truths and duties of his covenant [Hebrews 9:16-17] [Mark 14: 24] [1 Corinthians 11:25].
people trained as that belongs to God [Hebrews 8:10 [Ezekiel 11:19-20] [1 Peter 2:9].
The sacrifice of Christ is better than the sacrifices of the Old Covenant because he was a willing sacrifice and obedience to a righteous person [Jesus], rather than the involuntary sacrifice of an animal. Slaughter and fulfilling the will of God by Jesus was perfect and opened the way to forgiveness, reconciliation and full sanctification [Hebrews 10:10,15-17].
At New Covenant can be called the Spirit because the Holy Spirit who ministers life and power to those who accept the Covenant of God [2 Corinthians 3:1-6] [John 17:3].
Everyone involved in the New Covenant through Jesus Christ receive His blessings and His salvation only as we persevere in faith and obedience. The unbelievers are excluded from the blessings.
Expiration evident [see 13] the earlier covenant, to be obsolete and outdated. The very fact that God speaks of a new covenant states that the above is old. Here we used a special word for "new" meaning something that is of a different nature and character of the old. So, never mind back to the old but that was precisely what these believers were tempted to do. The author warns that this legal agreement is out of fashion for a better covenant has been introduced. And as if to confirm these words, the sacrificial system disappeared with the destruction of the temple in 70 AD.
With the advent of the New Covenant through Christ, the Old Covenant became obsolete [Hebrews 8:13]. However, the New Covenant does not become obsolete all the scriptures of the Old Testament, but only the Mosaic Covenant by which salvation was earned by obedience to the law and its system of sacrifices. The Old Testament says many of his revelations to Christ and as the inspired Word of God is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
THE MEDIATOR OF THE NEW COVENANT [Hebrews 8:1-13]
[8:1-6] The author departs from the ratings of Christ as High Priest to his current work of atonement. This work is so superior to the ministry of the Jewish priests who, through her, the old system has been replaced by the absolute, eternal and perfect priesthood of Christ.
[8:2] Jesus' ministry takes place in the sanctuary, not of earth but of heaven as Priest and King, takes the place of supreme authority (v. 1).
[8:5,6] The ministry of the tabernacle was only a figure and symbol of realities accomplished by Christ. Therefore, his ministry beyond the Levitical priesthood as the substance beyond the shadow of things.
[8:7] The first covenant was entirely external. Set the standard but did not give the power to carry.
[8:8-10] Jesus conducted his ministry under the covenant of grace of God, forged in the minds and hearts of believers through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hence, God established a New Covenant in their relations with their people, based not on an external compelling force, but a power that comes from within.
[8:11] In contrast to the revelation limited and impersonal of Israel, under the New Covenant will be a complete knowledge of God's universal and immediate.
[8:12,13] grace and mercy that characterizes the New Covenant replaces the inappropriate first.
[Hebrews 8:1-13] A REVIEW TO LEARN THE NEW COVENANT
After demonstrating that the heavenly priesthood of Christ is a better order, the author now shows that this priesthood is done by a better covenant. The Levitical priests ministered under the Old Covenant God made with Israel at Sinai. The very fact that God called the Old Covenant to introduce a New Covenant shows the old Levitical priesthood had been set aside on the cross. To prevent your readers regress to Aaron and the Old Covenant, the author demonstrates, in chapter 8, the superiority of the New Covenant.
How is the New Covenant better than the old?
I] - The High Priest of the New Covenant [8.1]
Verse 1 is a summary of previous arguments. We have such a high priest [as described in [Hebrews 7:26-28], a high priest who has already proven to be superior to Aaron. Christ our high priest, sat down, since his work of redemption is complete. No priest of the line of Aaron never sat. Nor has any Levitical priest never sat on a throne. Christ is our King-Priest in heaven, and as a great high priest, is the mediator of a better covenant. It is true that no minister to an old deal from the sky, a new high priest requires a new and better covenant.
II] - the top place of the New Covenant [8.2-5]
Since Jesus came from the tribe of Judah, Levi, would not have been considered to serve as a priest. We find Christ in the temple courts while he was on earth, but never in the Holy Place or Holy of Holies. But this only proves the superiority of the New Deal: the minister from the sky and not from the earth.
The writer adds another argument: the original, the earthly tabernacle [and the temple] were merely copies of the heavenly. Moses copied the model tabernacle of God revealed in the bush [Exodus 25:9, 40]. Jews revere the temple, their furniture and their ceremonies, but these things were just shadows of reality in the sky. Back to the Old Covenant meant to forget the realities of heaven for earthly imitations. The longer have a priest ministering in the heavenly sanctuary.
III] - The New Covenant promises higher [8.6-13]
This passage contains the key argument of this chapter: the promises of the New Covenant are much better than the Old Covenant. Therefore, the priesthood of Christ, which is based on better promises, should be a better priesthood itself and it is. First, read [Jeremiah 31:31-34] and then note that these promises are best:
A] - The promise of grace [vv. 6-9].
In verses [8-13] God says do something six times. This is funny! The Old Covenant was a yoke of slavery, demanding perfect obedience. But the New Covenant emphasizes what God will do for his people, not what they should do for him Note that God did not find lacking in the Old Covenant, but in people. The law is spiritual, but man is carnal, sold under sin, says [Romans 7:14] and [Romans 8:3] makes it clear that the law was weak through the flesh. In other words, the failure of Israel could not be attributed to any weakness in the Old Covenant, but the weakness of human nature. It is here, then, that grace involved, what the law could not do because of the weakness of man, God did through the Cross, for their disobedience. God specifically promises that the New Covenant would not be like the Old, not be conditional as the former fell through for that reason. Under the law's blessing was conditioned by obedience. Like the Israelites that obedience had not surrendered, lost all rights of blessing.
B] - The promise of an internal change [v. 10].
In [Jeremiah 31.31] the promise of the New Covenant and note that involves an internal change of heart. Read in [2 Corinthians 3] to have additional light on this wonderful theme. The Old Covenant was written by the finger of God on tablets of stone, but the New Covenant is written by the Spirit in the human heart. An external law can never change a person, must become part of the inner life so that you can change behavior. See [Deuteronomy 6:6-9]. This is what [Romans 8:4]: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us. This is accomplished, of course, the Holy Spirit, who enables us to obey the Word of God. Its special character inside, not outside, remembering the words of [2 Cor. 3:3], and establishing a privileged position and relationship. "I will," "put", "will be." The Old Covenant states that a man should do, the new, however, shows that God promises to do: Put divine laws in their minds, so that the knowledge and understanding, and in his heart, for the love. How is this done? Through the new birth. "I will be their God, and they shall be my people." These words indicate proximity and possession. There is a change of relationship, which is the closest possible. But also suggest the renewal of heart and mind. The essence of the New Covenant is that the Lord is in charge of compliance. Very different from that, it depended on God, but of his people. Besides knowing what are the just demands and standards of God, we can translate the reality of our personal experience. The law may indicate what are their rules, but only a heart transformed by the operation of the Holy Spirit can afford to live under those rules. Also in the New Covenant we find that the will of God is written in the heart of their own, thus becoming an internal rather than external reality through the power of the Holy Spirit.
C] - The promise of unlimited blessing and full knowledge [v.11] and personal God, without restrictions, unlike what we see in [Isaiah 1:3]. The man has as its highest ideal know yourself, but according to the Word of God the highest ideal is to know the Lord. This will result in full during the millennium, as we anticipate the prophets [Isaiah 11:9] and [Habakkuk 2:14] "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea" and for us not be satisfied until we see our Lord and be like Him
The day will come when there will be no need for personal testimony, because we all know the Lord. The ultimate fulfillment of this promise, of course, awaits the establishment of the kingdom. All I know [v.11] is a parallel to the Old Testament promise that repeats: The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord [Isaiah 11:9], both Jews and Gentiles.
D] - The promise of sins forgiven [v. 12].
Read [Hebrews 10] and see that, under the Old Covenant, had memory of sins, but not remission. The blood of bulls and goats could cover the sins, but only the blood of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world [John 1:29].
satisfactory coverage, in contrast to previous [Heb. 10:3]. The best thing is that the New Covenant promises mercy to a wicked people, and eternal oblivion of their sins. Under the law [the Old Covenant] had no mercy or forgiveness, but was adamant [Heb. 2:2]. In contrast, this agreement is based on the full and final solution for sin, made possible by the Lord's death on Calvary. Now you can have assurance of forgiveness. Perhaps one objected: "But I can not forget." If you can, if you consider that "remember" here means "do not have it against them, or treat them as if they had never done.
E] - The promise of eternal bliss [v. 13].
The very fact that God called a New Covenant means that the Old Covenant is obsolete and disappear. Around the time that wrote the letter to the Hebrews, the Roman legions were preparing to invade Palestine, which occurred in 70 AD The phrase is about to disappear shows that after a short time, the temple would be destroyed and priestly activities suspended. But the New Covenant, as the priesthood of Christ, would last forever.
When did you start to take effect this New Covenant? [Luke 22.20] and [1Cor 11.23-26] make clear that the New Covenant was established by the shed blood of Christ on the cross. According to [Hebrews 12.24] Christ is now the Mediator of the New Covenant.
But [Jeremiah 31.31] states that God promised this new Covenant to the Jews. What right have we to apply it to the Church? The answer lies in the character of the book of Acts dispensational. Recall that [Acts 1-7] is the offer of God's kingdom to the Jews. When the Holy Spirit came upon the believers at Pentecost, the New Covenant was in effect. If the nation had repented and received Christ as the Messiah, all the blessings and promises of the New Covenant have followed. But Israel rejected the message and resist the Spirit, and so the nation was cast aside. It is at this point that God brought the Gentiles into the New Covenant and the Church formed from the Jewish and Gentile believers. So now participate in the New Covenant in the body of Christ, but the nation of Israel will one day enjoy the same blessings when they look to have pierced and establishing the kingdom [Zechariah 12:10].
As a church and as the Body of Christ, every believer washed in the blood of Jesus we know what time we were located, and coming to understand the effects of grace on the lives of believers in Jesus. We are not forced to make deals with God in any way, no one can force us to do, nor lie to make us believe about the iniquities of the fathers upon the children, speaking on the third and fourth generation, Lucifer has risen with this new doctrine and there are many preachers who are presenting this false doctrine and confusing people and if possible to Christians heretical doctrine that has risen against the flock of Christ. The Son of God did everything for us on the cross of Calvary, there is no curse, no more evil in us, everything was left behind, all was forgotten by God [Jer 31:34] and the debt was settled by a mediator and sacrifice on the cross and we have a clear path to the Father through Christ.
When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said: IT IS. And he bowed his head, gave up the ghost [Jn 19:30]
Grace and Peace to you!
